Through historic photos and text, this book chronicles the work skills and trades that Italian immigrants helped develop in the Midwest.  By teaming up with other ethnic workers, Italians helped  build strong unions in Chicago.  The earliest trade groups focused on the garment industry,  trucking,  food services, mining, construction, and railroads.  A city - wide workforce created  unions at companies like McCormick/Harvester, Pullman Rail,  Western Electric, U.S. Steel, and other regional corporations.  (200 photos in 128 pages)
